Statement of Faith

We affirm the Five Solae of the Protestant Reformation

I. Sola Scriptura (by Scripture alone) – The Bible is the sole final authority for determining doctrine and for discerning good and evil. All other authorities (such as traditions, creeds, and preachers) are subject to scripture and are corrected by the written word. Furthermore, every moral aspect of our lives are under scriptural authority and must be examined in the light of God’s word.

II. Sola Fide (through Faith alone) – Faith is the only cause of salvation. Faith, properly understood cannot be separated from works (James 2). So while we are  justified by faith alone, we are not justified by a faith that is alone. In other words, faith is not merely intellectual assent to a doctrine- it is expressed through an act of our volition.

III. Sola Gratia (by Grace alone) – Our salvation is a result of God’s grace alone. We contribute nothing toward our salvation.

IV. Solus Christus (Christ alone) – Christ alone is the sole mediator of salvation between God and man.

V. Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God alone) – Everything that is done is for the glorification of God alone.

In addition, we affirm The Gospel of Jesus Christ: An Evangelical Celebration as a unifying statement.
